The library is closely affiliated with the [[Henry S. Olcott Memorial Library]] at TSA headquarters in Wheaton, Illinois.

Emily Sellon, in honor of whom the library is named, was an outstanding editor and writer who served in many capacities in the New York TS, in the Theosophical Society in America, and in [[Pumpkin Hollow Retreat Center]].
