	The '''Open Court Publishing Company''' was a Chicago-based publisher responsible for a weekly publication, [[The Open Court (periodical)\|''The Open Court'']], and a quarterly journal, ''The Monist''. in 1896, Edward C. Hegeler was the President of the company, and Dr. Paul Carus was the editor. Over 500 books were published on philosophy, mathematics, Eastern religions, Christianity, sciences, and social issues. The editorial office was a 324 S. Dearborn Street in Chicago, but later moved to the family's home time of La Salle, Illinois, where it continues publication. During the time of Dr. Carus, the company worked cooperatively with Kegan Paul, Trench, Trübner and Co., Ltd. in London, and with Baker and Taylor in NY.
