• 1851 – H. P. Blavatsky met her Teacher, Master M., for the first time in the physical body. This, according to what she wrote in her Sketchbook. However the date may have been a "blind".
• 1880 – Rosa Bates and Edward Wimbridge, who had accompanied the Founders to India, left Bombay due to personal difficulties.

• 1831 – Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, Co-founder of the Theosophical Society and main source of modern Theosophical teachings, at Yekaterinoslav, Russia (from 1926 Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine). (d. May 8, 1891)
• 1892 – S.R. Ranganathan, a highly influential Indian librarian and professor known worldwide for his classification system and laws of library science. (d. September 27, 1972).
